📣📣📣 UPDATE:  We won $2,500 relocation assistance!  Read more here...
For decades, FSH families have been organizing for affordable rent, more family housing, more transparent waitlist process, and habitability and safety of our homes and community.
As the University relocates our families to the new FSH site, we are demanding:
No 30% rent hike
Relocation assistance (We won this!)
Waitlist transparency
Decision-making about the new site
As our community takes root at the new FSH site, we envision a future where FSH residents play a central role in decision-making about habitability, connectivity, operations, and the terms of future rental contracts.
We are a community of student families with many shared interests, needs, and challenges. Together, we advocate for our rights as tenants, for better housing conditions, and for affordable rent. Â We accomplish this through:Â
Door-knocking, flyering, and tabling to build our base
Gathering information, and sharing information with news media
Holding UCSC admin accountable to university values, policies, and mission
Connecting with broader campus and regional housing advocacy, including organizations like the Santa Cruz County Renters Union
